Online applications are invited from eligible Indian sportspersons through open advertisement allotment for 38 (thirty eight) vacancies in Level 1 of Pay Matrix 7th Pay Group under Sports Quota for the year 2023-24. If eligible, separate applications are to be filled for different fields/sports and separate examination fee will be charged for each application.

Northern Railway Recruitment – Eligibility Criteria
Educational Qualification:
Minimum Educational Qualification:
- Passed 10th or its equivalent examination.
Note : Candidates with higher education qualification should also upload their 12th pass degree/post graduation certificate.
Sports Qualification (Any Achievements):
Northern Railway Recruitment : (i) Only those players who meet the following sports performance eligibility criteria and are active in the Championship as on 01/04/2021 (date of notification) are eligible to apply for appointment to the above posts under sports quota.
(ii) The final day/evening of the championship will be taken into account for the validity of the sporting record.
(iii) The specific venue to be played in the particular field, if applicable, must be mentioned compulsorily in the online application.
(iv) All the above championships should be organized under the auspices of a recognized International/National/State Sports Federation and approved by the Railway Sports Promotion Board (RSPB).
(v) Players who meet the playing criteria for higher level and applied for lower level vacancies may be considered for recruitment to the level applied for only. In such cases, the player has to give an undertaking that he will not get any higher rank after joining the Railways.
(vi) Apart from qualifying performance/status, the minimum criteria for recruitment to sports quota shall be as follows. These rules shall be read with reference to the following table.

- In Badminton & Table Tennis:
Only the current annual All India Rank will be considered for recruitment purposes; The highest ranking can be considered valid for one year.
Minimum Sports Achievement for Recruitment in Grade Pay 1800 : Up to 30th position
- Hockey (Women):
In hockey, international tournaments involving four or more countries may also be considered. By participating in these competitions, recruitment should be done for posts with grade pay (5,200-20,200 in the pay band of 1,800).
- Chess:
Minimum Sports Achievement for Recruitment in Grade Pay 1800 : 2300 or more FIDE Rating.

- Eligible candidates will be called for document verification before the test.
- Original documents of date of birth, all educational qualifications, sports achievements, caste certificate, relevant certificates for fee relaxation, if applicable, one set of self-attested photocopies of all certificates, 2 recent passport size photographs (self attested date back page), e-admit card and valid Photo Identity Card (Voter ID Card, Aadhaar Card, e-Aadhaar, Driving License, PAN Card, Passport etc., if the candidate is a Government Servant, issued by his employer, School/College/University Photo Identity Card etc.) in original on the day of document verification.

Medical Examination:
Northern Railway Recruitment : Candidates recommended for appointment should fulfill the medical fitness standards required for the post prescribed by the Northern Railway Administration.
Period of Probation:
Northern Railway Recruitment : All appointed candidates shall undergo a probationary period of two years (02 years).

INSTRUCTIONS FOR INVALID APPLICATION :
Northern Railway Recruitment: The following defects/inconsistencies found in the application form/documents submitted/not submitted by the applicant shall render the application/candidature invalid/rejected at any stage of the recruitment process:-
(i) Application not in prescribed format and incomplete or unclear application.
(ii) Applications without photograph, LHT impression, unsigned applications/signature in capital letters or different signatures at different places during the selection process.
(iii) Application without application fee or reduced fee.
(iv) Application without proof of date of birth, educational qualification, sporting achievements, caste, employer’s NOC if employed etc.
(v) over age or under age, date of birth not filled in or wrongly filled in.
(vi) not uploading self attested copies of required certificates.
(vii) lack of requisite educational qualification and sports qualification at the time of application.
(viii) Applications completed in any language other than English or Hindi.
(ix) Candidates who are already working in Government Service/Public Sector/Enterprise etc. must submit NOC from the employer otherwise the application will be summarily rejected.
GENERAL INSTRUCTIONS FOR CANDIDATES:
Northern Railway Recruitment : (i) Railway Board’s letter no. 2010/E(Sports)/4(1)/1(Policy) dated 31.12.2010 Recruitment of Players shall be read with amendments/amendments issued by the Railway Board from time to time.
(ii) Any candidate facing difficulty in filling his/her application online may contact the helpline numbers displayed along with notification on RRC website.
(iii) Mere filling of online application on RRC website does not qualify the candidate for the selection process. The candidature of the candidates participating in the selection process is provisional at all stages.
(iv) All recruitments under open advertisement quota will be at the lowest level of pay scale in the pay matrix. The Railway Management reserves the right to hire qualified candidates. The decision of the Railway Administration in all matters such as eligibility, venue, date, mode of selection, acceptance or rejection, nomination for post, place of posting, grade etc. will be final and binding on the candidates. No correspondence will be entertained in this regard. The Northern Railway Management reserves the right to limit the number of players selected for any individual/team sport depending on their demand and availability of suitable candidates fulfilling the criteria for that sport.
(v) A candidate applying for more than one Department/Sport or Event shall submit a separate application for each Department/Sport or Event with all necessary documents along with separate examination fee.
(vi) No request for change of date and venue will be entertained.
(vii) No relaxation in academic/sports norms, age relaxation will be allowed.
(viii) No posts reserved for SC, ST, OBC and EWS. However, for fee relaxation, candidates claiming to belong to SC/ST/OBC community must upload a copy of self-attested caste certificate issued by competent authority, otherwise fee relaxation will not be granted and any applicant will be required to pay Rs. 500/- will be rejected as applicable to general candidate.
(ix) Players playing the criteria for the higher pay matrix and applying for vacancies in the lower pay squad will be considered for application status only if found eligible.
(x) No TA/DA/accommodation will be granted for appearing in the selection test/assessment. Applicants must bring their own sports kit. They may have to stay for 4-5 days during the exam for which they have to make their own arrangements. The Railway Administration reserves the right to fix any date, change the venue or postpone the test/evaluation (at its convenience) or cancel the test due to unforeseen circumstances, against which no claim will be entertained.
